The paper provides a brief overview of the processes for collecting, archiving and accessing oceanographic in-situ data from international projects such as SeaDataNet[1], EMODNET[2], and BlackSeaScene[3]. Using SeaDataNet as an example, the structure of a distributed data network is described and the procedure for selecting and downloading oceanographic data from the SeaDataNet portal is considered. Particular, attention is paid to the free software Ocean Data View (ODV) [4] providing a user-friendly interface for working with the downloaded oceanographic data. Moreover, the paper considers the Regional Geographic Information System (GIS) for the Black Sea developed at the Marine Hydrophysical Institute (MHI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, providing online access and visualization of oceanographic data of the MHI Oceanographic Data Bank (BOD MHI) [5,6].
