Complex Interpretation of Waste Disposal Facilities Using Satellite Imagery

The paper is focused on the method of complex interpretation of waste disposal facilities using satellite monitoring and ground observations. The method includes the detection of objects by visible interpretation features, the assessment of their parameters and the impact on the environment. The main visible interpretation features of waste disposal facilities and littered areas are given based on satellite images. The possibility of visual assessment of parameters is shown on the example of the geometrical parameters of landfills. The possibility of assessing the impact of littered areas on the environment using visible textural features of surface physico-chemical processes is shown. It is highlighted that an artificial neural network can be built upon the developed method with the aim for complex interpretation of littered areas using satellite imagery.
